Running Check-in Goal Reached!

During one of my runs this week.

I haven't been running as much as I would like because I have been busy, but I was really excited about a goal I reached! I ran 2 miles without stopping! I always do a run/walk and have only ran a mile and a half nonstop (and the last time I did that was in September).

That makes me grateful for the time I took to rest after my last half marathon. I am not naturally an athletic person, so halfs are hard, but Im getting better! I want to be able to run a 5k nonstop! I can't wait until I can do that! I love to challenge myself and the way running not only challenges my body, but also my mind.

A lot of the time when Im running and want to push past a distance point, my mind will tell me it's ok to stop or I've never ran this far it's too much. I have ignore that and feel my body, my breathing, my legs, if Im ok I keep going. I took a lot of time to figure out the difference between my mind and my body. It's really weird, I totally play mind games with myself. Haha. And I know it will continue to happen as long as I keep challenging myself.

I don't know about my goal of 31 miles in 31 days. I was running in the middle of the day, but recently California decided it was summer. Right now it is 85 degrees. It feels like 90 something when I ran yesterday. I was dying. Well this month I have 17 miles down. That is more than the last three months, so I should still be happy. Tonight I am going for a 5 miler, so I might count my walking towards the 31 miles to kind of accomplish it. Haha

What is your your way of pushing past a fitness point or mental block?

My Running Story

Well I started running about a year and a half ago. I use to dance in high school and even took classes in college just to be doing something.

When I got married and moved I didn't workout at all. I felt a difference in my body that I hated.

We moved to an amazing location where I could see people running and riding their bikes everyday.

My husband runs a couple miles every once in a while because he has to for the military. One day I decided to go running with him. I didn't have any workout clothes so I went in his basketball shorts and big Air Force t-shirt! I probably ran one minute and wanted to die.

Soon after that I got a bike. I would go with Jon when he would run. I would have him ride my bike until I couldn't run anymore then, I would get to cruise on the bike the rest of the way. This really helped me a lot. I could push myself but had the bike there to carry me home if I needed.

I continued to run and started to actually like it.
I saw that Disney did races and there was a half marathon in January 2013 at Disneyland. It was August 2012. I couldn't believe that the race was already sold out! Well, my awesome husband found a company affiliated with Disney that had tickets and surprised me with them!

Boy Behind the Blog

I love this link-up! I asked my husband the five questions and here are his answers:

1. What is your favorite cereal? Cheerios
2. Pancakes or waffles? Waffles
3. What is your favorite holiday tradition? Giving Presents.
4. Finish the sentence: All I want for Christmas is... my two front teeth. (The sarcasm is why I married him.)
5. What was your best moment of 2013? Giving you your Louis Vuitton purse and seeing how excited you were (awe... he's so nice and really does like giving presents... really good ones) and Going to Green Bay and being at the Packers Stadium!

Christmas Themed Movie Night

A Christmas themed movie night seemed fun, so I went out and bought a few Christmas movies and snacks for me and my husband. I think it would also be fun on Christmas Eve!

My Disney Weekend

The past few days I have been sick, which totally sucks because I wanted to post everyday in December. I feel like I haven't been that great at blogging this month because blogging and vlogging everyday starts taking over your life and feels really weird. lol. So I let myself rest a few days from blogging and decided to post whatever I feel like instead of my schedule... I hope to have some better quality post up soon!

This weekend I went to Disneyland. I use to go to Disneyland all the time, but I don't have a pass anymore. boo. lol (The military discount tickets are pretty good... a 3 day park hopper for less than a regular 1 day park hopper!) We had to go during the holiday season! It's the best time to go!

I also went to Hollywood Blvd. I have been here many times and done all of the touristy things, so we just went to the El Capitan to see Frozen. There are many things to do on the Walk of Fame (Chinese Theater, Dolby Theater, Stars, wax museum, tours (I recommend the hop on/off tour.? They take you around Los Angeles and you can get on and off at different locations, like The Grove, through out the day.)) Frozen was really cute. I love watching movies at the El Capitan!

Hope you had a great weekend! Link up:

LA Favorite: Cup Cake ATM!

Sprinkles Cupcake ATM

This is probably the worst thing and the best thing ever.

It allows me to get cupcakes when ever I want because it's open 24/7. All of the times I have been here it has been in the middle of the night. Shh!

One thing I can say is Im not the only one, because there's always a line.

The only thing bad about going in the middle of the night is they could be out of your favorite flavor... or all of the flavors (I've heard), but that's never happened when I went!

My favorite flavor here is strawberry and usually strawberry wouldn't be my first pick.

It is only a few blocks from Rodeo Drive, so if your in Los Angeles to do a little sight seeing that's a fun place to people watch and spend some money if you have it!

This is the coolest thing and Im not sure anywhere else but Los Angeles has a cupcake ATM!

Homemade Peppermint Ice Cream in a Bag

I have been loving peppermint ice cream. I think it is great during the holiday season!
I gave this ice cream in a bag a try with a peppermint twist!

Ingredients:
Gallon Size sealable bag
Quart size sealable bag
1/2 Cup of Half & Half
2 Tbsp sugar
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
tiny dash of peppermint extract (you don't need very much)
1/2 Cup salt
Ice

Instructions:
Fill the Quart size bag with the half and half, sugar, vanilla extract, and peppermint extract.
Seal it tight with as little air as possible.
Then fill the Gallon size bag half way with ice. Pour the salt on top of the ice.
Put the quart size bag into the gallon bag. Seal the gallon bag.
Shake it for 5-10 minutes. When its the consistency that you want take the quart size bag out and rinse off the outside of the bag to get rid of any salt.
I cut a slit in the bottom of the bag and squeeze it into a bowl. You could also eat it right out of the bag!
Then enjoy. Top it with any toppings you like!

Thanks for reading! Hope you get to try this out! It's so simple and really good!

Stocking Stuffer Ideas for Guys

This year Jon and I actually aren't doing gifts or stockings because we have been traveling and shopping on our trips, but I was proud of my stocking stuffers from last year and thought I would share a few of my ideas!

The first thing that I think is awesome is this utensil tool thing ($8.99) I got from Kohl's. Jon was going through plastic utensils like crazy at work, so I thought this was perfect. I knew it was a great gift when he called asking where I got it because one of his coworkers wanted to know. Haha.

Kohl's is awesome for random little gift. I found a trivia book ($8) in Green Bay about his favorite sports team, the Packers. He liked it in the store and kept telling me to ask him another question. So I snuck and bought it for him! They have other teams as well!

Another thing that I thought would be great for him was a shaving kit($25). For the military he has to keep his face clean. I figured he could try the samples and if he liked the scent and products we could get more. (He loves it and uses it every time now!) I found this in the checkout line at Sephora.

I decided to only talk about my favorite "not really mentioned" stocking stuffers. What is your favorite stocking stuffer?
Mine is gift cards or candy!
