5 Things I'm Thankful For

I am thankful for...

1. This guy! He's amazing and works so hard for us! He puts up with me. lol. Makes me smile! I appreciate and love him so much!

2. My fam bam. They are awesome and always there for me. We are kinda crazy, but entertaining and funny. They are always making me laugh. I love them!

3. Pete. My brothers puppy. I love dogs and he's my favorite. Since I can't have my own here, he will have to do. lol

4. Races. Running is a new favorite hobby of mine. The races and bling help give me motivation to run and something to look forward to.

5. The US Military members and family. Not only is that my husband occupation at the moment (thankful he's home), these men and women and their families sacrifice so much and keep us safe. I am so grateful for them, and admire them.

I am also so grateful for the kind bloggers I have met so far. I was so surprised with how nice and welcoming bloggers are. Thanks guys!

I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Sigma Premium Brush Kit

I have heard about Sigma bushes for a long time, but never wanted to purchase them without seeing them first. I was able to go to their store in the Mall of America recently and can say they are really great quality and super soft.
Honestly nobody really "needs" all of these brushes to do their make up, but it is nice to have.
I chose this kit because I didn't have anything like any of the brushes, except for the E25. Its a lot like my favorite eyeshadow brush from MAC Cosmetics (217).

The brushes come in a nice zip up case. Here is an overview of the brushes and case:

Weekend Shenanigans

Once a month Jon has training for the Air Force. I go with him because the base is really close to my family's house. This month he actually had to go in twice, thanks to the government shutdown last month.

I didn't really do too much, but it's always fun to be with my fam.

I also did something I never do, I posted on the weekend. How I feel about social media and my trip recap from the Mall of America and Green Bay. I made a goal to post everyday until the end of the year.

I love going home because they have a cute, crazy puppy. I can't have any pets at my apartment or I would.

Wisconsin & Minnesota Trip Recap

(Wed. 11/13) We got to the airport a bit early and I was excited to try out Lemonade, it was really good. We also saw the Hollywood sign from the plane. We got picked up by our hotel shuttle. He stopped on the way back to the hotel to pick up some others at the Mall of America. I was so excited to finally be at the mall (even though we didn't go in.) That night we just got settled in. And one thing I thought was cool that you don't see in California much is an indoor pool at a hotel!

Warming Up to Social Media

I have learned Im not that great at social media stuff. Before I started my blog a few months ago I only had an Instagram and Pinterest. I am a really private person and with a lifestyle blog I am learning to go a bit outside my comfort zone.

With things like Twitter where people post what they got from Starbucks or what they are thinking about anything and everything... Im over here like, "Do people really care about where I'm shopping or my food?" I guess some do care. There are people that tweet all day everyday. And my most liked Instagram picture is of things I bought at Sephora.

I think that social media sites like Twitter and Instagram are really cool to get to know other bloggers and also to promote yourself and others.

I feel like an "old person" not with the times when I admit to not really being into the whole social media thing. haha. But, my favorite right now is Instagram. I am starting to warm up to Twitter as well. Maybe someday I will make a Facebook too.

What is your favorite social media site?

Here are links to my sites: (If you follow me let me know and I will do the same!)

Favorite Fitness Quotes

I wanted to post a working out on vacation post today, but I kind of failed at that. I worked out once while on vacation... a little bit more if you count walking around the mall of America for two days... Anyways, while I'm getting back into my workout routine I thought I would share some of my favorite fitness quotes:

Well he's a many of many words, as you can see. haha. This is a fun blog link up! Check it out:

Liebster Blog Award

This past weekend I got a comment from someone saying that they liked my blog and nominated me for some blog award. I honestly thought it was spam or something where you have to pay money, because my blog is so new and Im just starting out slow and getting a feel for blogging. Turns out the Liebster Award is really cool for bloggers with under 200 followers to be recognized and meet other bloggers. Its more like a tag than an "award", but still really awesome!

I am so thankful and honored that Courtney from Highstreet Highlight nominated me and likes where I'm going with my blog. Thank you Courtney!

I looked up the Liebster Award and there are actually many different ones going around with little differences on the numbers but the one I am doing has these rules:

  • Link back to the person that nominated you
  • each nominee must list 11 random facts about themselves
  • then answer the 11 questions provided by the person who nominated them
  • nominate 11 bloggers with 200 followers or less and ask them 11 questions of your own
  • let the nominees know you nominated them

11 Random Facts About Me:

     1. I love everything Disney. For the past 3 years I would go to Disneyland at least once a

month (not anymore my pass expired...boo.)
     2. I follow/read many mom blogs, even though Im not a mom.
     3. In high school I took aerobics and dance to get out of running. Now I love to run.
     4. I love accents. I guess I talk differently then others from California because Ive been
asked many times where Im from when Im in my home state. Some say I sound
southern, others say somewhere in Europe. lol
     5. I am terrified of birds.
     6. Hockey and Football are my favorite sports to watch.
     7. My husband proposed to me near the castle at Disneyland.
     8. Im a night owl. I don't do mornings very well.
     9. I love scary stuff like horror films and haunted mazes/houses and Halloween.
     10. I love to laugh and make others laugh.
     11. Chocolate is my weakness.

11 Questions From Courtney:
  1. What is your favorite candle scent?  My favorite candle scent is cinnamon or apple. I really like the scent pumpkin apple from Bath and Body Works right now.
  2. Where are all the places you have travelled to and which was your favorite? I just got back from (Green Bay) Wisconsin and Minnesota, I have also been to Las Vegas, Orlando,FL, New York, Boston,MA, San Francisco, and many places in Souther California. Also Mexico when I was young. They all were amazing, but my favorite would have to be New York.
  3.  What’s something you know you do differently than most people? The only thing I can think of is something my sister made fun of me for... lol... I eat nachos with a fork. I actually eat a lot of things with a fork and not with my hands.
  4. If you had to move to a state or country besides the one you currently live in, where would you move and why? I would move to Green Bay, WI or a small town in Minnesota. I loved it there and I think it would be a nice place to raise a family, but I don't know about their winters. If I had to pick somewhere outside of the USA I would choose Australia. It looks amazing and I think it would be fun to live there.
  5. Would you rather lose all of your old memories, or never be able to make new ones? Thats a tough one. I think I would choose to never be able to make new memories because I want to remember what has happened in my life and can be filled in on the new stuff. I could be like Drew Barrymore's character from 50 1st Dates.
  6. Your idea of the perfect breakfast? I should probably pick something healthy, but chocolate chip pancakes sound really great.
  7. What would you do for a Klondike bar? Is it bad if I say I don't know if I would do anything. I don't really like hard outside then ice-cream.
  8. Do you have anything hanging on your walls? If so, what? The only thing I have thats actually hanging on the wall is a painting I got at Disneyland, everything else is leaning on the wall.
  9. What are you sitting on right now? Im sitting on the most uncomfortable chair ever in front of my computer.
  10. What are you currently reading? I am reading The Fault in Our Stars by John Green.
  11.  What is your lucky/favorite number and why? My favorite number has always been 55. Im pretty sure I picked it because it was on my sweater from Disneyland (the year it opened) when I was little and didn't have a favorite number, so I just chose that. Its still my favorite number.
Bloggers I tag are:
  1. Savanna from And I Don't Like Onions
  2. Stacey from Chasing Cloud 9
  3. Megan from Grad Student Needs a Hobby
  4. Jessica from Pleas and Carrots
  5. Christina from Polkadot Heart
  6. Renee from So Fill Your Heart
  7. Mary from The Clarity Chase
  8. Jamie From The Growing Up Diaries
  9. Chelsea from Moos on the Loose
  10. Sara from My Way to Fit and Fab
  11. Jenny from Sprinkles and Sundresses
(I looked at the follower count through bloglovin, so some bloggers that I picked could have more than 200 over all, but through bloglovin they had less than 200.)

My Questions for you:
  1. Why did you start blogging?
  2. What's your favorite book?
  3. What would be your dream vacation or have you had your dream vacation?
  4. What is your favorite social media site?
  5. What is your favorite type of blog post to read and/or write?
  6. What is your favorite food?
  7. If you were an animal, what would you be?
  8. If you could have any superpower, what would you choose?
  9. What is your favorite hot drink?
  10. What do you like best about where you live?
  11. What's your favorite movie?

What's in my Carry-on

Traveling is one of my favorite things. Usually the flights I have been on are pretty long (like 5 hours), so the most important things for me on a plane is to be comfortable and have some type of entertainment.

MidWest Vacation

This weekend I have been on vacation with Jon. We love to travel and have been to many big cities like New York, Boston, San Francisco, so this time we wanted to switch it up and visit some small towns. We went to Minnesota and Wisconsin. I will post more about my trip when I'm home, but for now here are some pictures:

Hiking in Hollywood

This week I went to Griffith Park to hike. Up by the Observatory there is an amazing trail(Mt Hollywood Hiking Trail).  It was an awesome workout. I rarely go hiking, but I love it and want to go more! There are quite a bit of people that use this trail but not too many that its crazy. It makes me feel safe when there are others around.  I love the views of the city and Hollywood sign. Here are some pictures that I took that day:

Surprises and Shopping

This week Jon surprised me with an upcoming vacation to the MidWest. I pretty sure it freezing over there, especially compared to LA.

We went hiking at Griffith Park. Im going to be writing a blog post more about hiking in Los Angeles on Friday! I love it there. The view is amazing and you can get great shots of the Hollywood sign!

After the hike we decided to visit the Americana and the Glendale Galleria because the traffic was horrible and we needed a few things for our trip. The American is awesome and really beautiful especially during the holidays with the decorations and lights!(and thats the only picture I got of it oops) (P.S. park in the mall parking across the street for free!)

We also went to Universal Studios this weekend. We had Disneyland annual passes for the past three years and decided to change it up this year with Universal Passes, so we try to go every once in a while. My father in law goes to Universal with his wife ever weekend. We met up with them for lunch.
This is a spot you pass on the backlot of the studio tour. It's one of my favorites. It reminds me of Beauty and the Beast. lol.

Then for dinner we had sushi at Wasabi in Universal City Walk. I love the sushi there.  Totally recommend it!
