Pumpkin Cupcakes

These cupcakes were kind of an experiment. I got a recipe off of Pinterest (which by the way was my most repined ever lol), but I accidentally got pumpkin pix filling instead of pure pumpkin, so I couldn't really follow that. The can of pumpkin mix had a muffin recipe that I used as a guideline, but didn't have the exact ingredients either. I didn't know how they would turn out. I think I did a pretty good job though.

Weekend Recap

Sami's Shenanigans

Jon and I weren't planning on staying in our apartment for as long as we have, so I never put much thought into the decor. Now that we have decided to continue our lease I want to decorate my apartment and really make it home. So this weekend we headed to Ikea. I was looking for an "entry way" table (that I didn't find), but I found a book shelf for $25! I can't wait to put it together and decorate!

While we were out we also stopped by Chevy's to eat. We shared the fajita burrito. It was really good. I love their salsa!
Since the movies were near by we also went to see Bad Grandpa. If you like the Jackass movies, I think you will like it. It was funny. I also learned I only like blue ICEEs. Weird.

Coming up on Gina's Agenda this week: Wednesday I am making pumpkin cupcakes and Friday I'm trying a new sport, tennis!

My Workout Playlist

I love to listen to music while working out, especially when I'm running.
What are you favorite songs to listen to while working out?

Runner's Wish List

The best part about running is that you don't need much to do it. A good pair of running shoes, a supportive sports bra, and comfy workout shorts and t-shirt are all you need. As time goes on and you start researching, going to races and expos, and meet other runners you start to want and "need" many more things. These are just a few things I have on my my runner's wish list.

What's in a Name

How I got my name Gina Louise

For a long time my mom told me she just liked the name Gina.
Once I was older and she talked a bit more about it she told me the lady on Gillian's Island that played Ginger's real name was Tina Louise and she always thought she was gorgeous.

I didn't learn until I was  maybe a senior in High School that both of my parents were married before, when they were young. My dad's first wife's name was Tina, so Im pretty sure thats why I'm a Gina and not a Tina lol.
Also my great grandmother's name was Louise. I would like to think that is where my middle name comes from and so did she.
Another thing that I use to be embarrassed about was my mom would call me "Weezie." When I was around 5 or 6 I told her if she wants to call me that I get to give her a nickname too. I loved the Spice Girls and decided Emma was a great name for her... like M-ah for Mom... lol...

Weekend Recap Pumpkin Patch

This past week I have been working on organizing my blog. I want to put out content I am proud of. I just started blogging a month ago and have so much to learn.

I have decided that I would work best with a schedule, so this is my new blog schedule for the rest of October:
          Mondays: Weekend Recap
          Wednesdays: Halloween Related
          Fridays: Fitness Post
And maybe some fun surprise posts as well!

On to... My Weekend:
(this weekend I completed some things on my Autumn Bucket List! Go to a corn maze. And hopefully carve a pumpkin soon!)

  • Saturday we went to Pierce College Farm Pumpkin Patch/ Corn Maze
  • It was my first time in a corn maze... I didn't like how the start and finish were the same spot... Other than that it was fun.
  • They had amazing food there.
  • We also picked out our pumpkin... that we haven't carved yet.

  • Sunday I spent a lot of time figuring out content for my blog... I thought Halloween make up would be fun to try out... the old lady from Insidious was my inspiration for that look.. lol
  • I also watched the walking dead and burned my new Apple Pumpkin candle from Bath and Body Works.
Hope you all had a great weekend!

Wedding Anniversary

Two years ago today I married my love. I am not a mush gushy girl at all... I don't know if thats a good or bad thing, but I do love to look back at memories.

One thing I love that we did during our wedding was a wine box "ceremony." This is kind of like the colored sand or candle lighting part of a ceremony. We got married at Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas, so we couldn't add that into our ceremony or it would cost us more money.
What I did was have my dad bring the box up during our reception and tell everyone that we had written letters to each other to open on our 5 year anniversary with a bottle of wine. I loved that our wedding was really laid back and intimate. Anyways we got our wine box from Jo Annes and my dad stained the wood for us. We wrote letters and put them in the box during the reception. When we got home from our wedding and honeymoon we were able to put all of the things we want to keep and remember in the box as well. Also at the reception we had our family and friends write well wishes and put it in the box. I can't wait for our 5 year so we can look at it all.

Our box sits by our fire place now.

Inside the wine box.

Every 5 years I think we are going to put another letter and wine. Also it is there for any time your relationship isn't going well. If you need to take a second and read why you love that person and have a glass of wine and a talk with each other. I thought this was really special and I love that we have it.

More on the wine box.

Another thing was our wedding cards. I have just kept them in a box, but on Pinterest I saw a wedding card book that I have started to recreated for us. It is such a great idea I had to share it!

Work in progress. Wedding card book.
In my first two years of marriage I have had so much learning and growing. We have had ups and downs and really have learned how to be a "married couple." It has been amazing and I can't wait to see what the future holds for us!

Weekend Shenanigans

Sami's Shenanigans

Every year that I've known my husband we've gone to Halloween Horror Nights in Hollywood. Last year we got VIP tickets for the first time and decided thats the only way to do HHN. This year my brother, brother in law and dad joined us.

I got the two little bowls from target for $1 & $3. I made the popcorn bags with items from Michaels!

Mummy mini dogs, zombie brownies, Cactus cooler with a printout I made, and a zombie wall poster from Spirit.

Before we headed to the park everyone met up at our apartment. Because Im a girl and like being festive I made a little halloween snack bar for us and the guys played zombie Call of Duty (IDK?).

VIP is different than the regular pass in that you get valet parking, a VIP lounge with food, desert, drinks, and is the only place that serves alcohol in the park, as well as a VIP tour and unlimited front of the line for everything. We literally walked on to all of the mazes (except for a tiny wait at The Walking Dead maze... I think the regular wait was over an hour... so waiting only two minutes is awesome and totally worth it.)
"The Purge" Entrance
Tons of Purge guys ready to get us. Ah.

Let the fun begin!

Horrible picture of the beautiful view in the VIP area.

VIP tram...

I love Universal's Halloween event the best out of others I have been to because many of the mazes are based off of movies or television shows. They do an amazing job recreating scenes from the movies that make you feel like you're really there. Also there is a terror tram that takes you to the back lot where the Psycho motel/ house and War of the World plane crash site is and you get to walk around. If you do the VIP tour you walk around a bit more where others don't have access too which is really fun as well.

I did really bad at taking photos. I think I have them from the first hour, then I totally forgot. My brother has some good footage from the event. I think I will try to help him make a video this weekend and post it on here and youtube. I also was thinking of writing a full review of the event as well.
